get rid of junk comments

© 2007 Apple Inc.Probably not a lot of people reading my blog are using MovableType to blog themselves. Nevertheless I am very glad that I've solved my junk comment problem with this MT plugin: HMPassphrase
The mechanism is simple: The plugin introduces a new field in the comment submit form. If this field is not filled in correctly, the comment is rejected. This is a great relief for me since I usually had one spam comment every 10 minutes - at least.
So have fun to comment on any entry you like, an don't forget to fill "jaja" in the extra field...
Update: An excerpt from the activity log just to show how effective this is:

Seems a quite fun plugin; actually I'm far from using MT but am going to spread about it to a few people having spam troubles =)

Yes pls spread the word, it is really a great relief to the blog owner.
As I can see on virg0.org you're using WordPress. I guess if I'd create a new blog, I'd go for WP, but at the time I found the decision between MT and WP pretty ambiguous (and I got a shining ideal in IT&W). Furtunately we never stop learning!
Talking about learning: only when I write comments to my own blog I find the small traps: there was no jaja-field on the comment preview page. Now you can preview and post afterwards, I added the jaja-field also on this site. Unfortunately the jaja isn't filled in automatically yet, even when you specified it the first time. I gotta check back on that MT variable name...

That's fun.
On WP I usually don't need to put the security code to post my own replies aeven if I am logged out from the system.
It's a small hack on the hack-legacy stream queue and it only affects users with akismet problem (like I was - it discarded all my comments in every blog I was posting, then the updated version fixed it).
From the laptop works fine but on the other machine it really sucks.
I need to sleep... I really need to sleep and to have a real life =)
